To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary. (Psalms 63:2 KJV)
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day. And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good. And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the third day. And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the fourth day. And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. And the evening and the morning were the fifth day. And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good. (Genesis 1:1-25 KJV)
But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. (Philippians 3:7-11 KJV)
I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord. (Psalms 40:1-3 KJV)
Let's take a glimpse at the astounding power of God's Word, a power that magnificently creates, transforms, and reigns - a power that distinguishes Him as the one true God.
Read Genesis 1:1-25. Observe and ponder the beautiful and awesome power of God speaking forth His Word.
The power of the Lord is infinite and boundless. The Bible begins by saying that God spoke the heavens and the earth into being. That is power beyond anything we can fully understand! Meditate on the power and might of the Lord, especially the power of His Word. He is worth knowing and trusting and worthy of all praise and worship and devotion.
Read Philippians 3:7-11. When you consider everything as loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ as Lord, you can be sure that it is God at work in your life. As you seek after Him more and more, He will reveal Himself and His power and His glory to you. You will see His character, His love, and His power lived out through you, but you will know it is Christ and not you!
The purpose of this study is not merely to increase your knowledge, although I do hope it will. And it is not designed to make you a better person. It is meant to help you develop an intimate, one-on-one relationship with our great Creator God, a one-on-one agape love affair with Jesus Christ - through His Word. Many don't consider this type of intimacy - a relationship that meets their deepest needs and turns things right-side up that have seemed so totally upside down - even possible.
Ask Him to use this devotion in your life in a life-transforming way. He will do it. It is only by His grace that we can do anything.
Read Psalm 40:1-3 and make it your prayer. May everyone around you know that something wonderful, something 'out of this world,' has happened to cause you to never be the same again. May you, and they, see His power and His glory!
Like yesterday, choose one scripture from today that the Lord is using to renew your mind and transform your heart. Take this truth to heart and bring it to life throughout your day.
